I have shopped various art supply shops and found some very nice swatch books but have always felt they were lacking something that I was looking for. Too big, too small, what if you add or subtract colors from your collection? I wanted something that I could customize as I went. So, I pulled out a little of my graphic design background, my experience working in the print industry and my Cricut.
Here is what I came up with:
 • Each color will have its own card.
 • I will be able to take them off the ring if I need to.
 • I can reorganize them if I want. If pencils are added to my collection.
 • I can place them in an order that makes sense to me.
 • I can also remove colors if pencils are discontinued in the future.
 • Each card is only 3 in. x 3 in. so they do not take up a lot of room.
 • I can use different paper for the cards to do other media such as watercolors or inks.
I have discovered that the Cricut pen I have contains an ink that is NOT water resistant, so I will need to do some more research on that before making swatch cards for any wet media, but for my colored pencils (which I have a ton of) this has been a fantastic solution!

<![CDATA[Welcome to my Sketchbook (blog)]]>Sat, 03 May 2025 22:37:57 GMThttp://www.fisherartdesign.com/sketchbook/welcome-to-my-sketchbook-blogI'll keep this updated as much as I can with things I am working on as well as a few things that might not be related to art that if I get a chance to share a bit. I am sure it will start slow, but some of the thing you might see on here include art (obviously), cooking, golf, baseball, soccer or something completely out of nowhere.

I will also keep the Sketchbook updated with works in progress and any new products that come available from my little studio here in Dayton, Ohio.

Stay tuned!]]>
